Every song tells a story, with lyrics inspired by ideas taken from mythology, literature, philosophy, history, physics, and infused with social and cultural themes.  The soundscape is a fusion of cinematic, world, electronic, pop, folk, and even classical elements.  Enjoy Syne's mindful music below:

"Plato's Cave" is a poetic folktronica song with cinematic, pop, world, and rap elements that molds the philosophical concept of Plato's Allegory of the Cave to address the theme of our tendency to get caught up in society's flow and lose our sense of wonder.

Syne-Plato's Cave [Official Animated Music Video] feat. L-FRESH The LION

"Plato's Cave" is inspired by Plato's allegory of the cave, but it modifies the context slightly to touch on our tendency to get caught up in society's illusionary flow and lose sight of our passions, dreams, and inner light.  The song also features South West Sydney ARIA-nominated artist and rapper, L-FRESH The LION.   Song available to download/stream/buy at: Smart Link: https://ffm.to/bbxdm0e Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/2mAqnKNZDFC2B8ro4MjPxe Apple Music/iTunes: https://music.apple.com/us/album/platos-cave-feat-l-fresh-the-lion/1502852254?i=1502852255 Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/syneverse/platos-cave Bandcamp: https://syneverse.bandcamp.com/track/platos-cave Follow Syne at: Website: https://www.syneverse.com/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/17nWalbjuJskn2sgILzjl9 Apple Music: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/syne/1448138507 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/syneverse/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/syneverse/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/syneverse/ Credits: Executive Production, Music Composition and Production, Concept Art Design, Character Design, and Storyboarding by Syne Featuring L-FRESH The LION Song Mixing by Sean Carey Song Mastering by Kathy Naunton at dB Mastering, Sydney Graphic, Motion, and Animation Work by Maria Goruleva by All4Band Studio Video Project Supervision by Vladyslav Tsarenko at All4Band Studio Lyrics: We were free Once upon a time; Once, it was a different life, Nothing but an open sky, Nothing but the stars, Nothing but an endless high, Nothing but an open mind, Nothing but hope in our eyes. We were young Some time ago, And all the dreams we could hold Were right in front of our eyes. Everything was bright, But now the years have passed us by, And time has turned us blind. This cave of shadows is a lie. So close your eyes, close your eyes, And open up your mind, For we're standing in a cave Watching shadows in our own light, While the world is out of sight... Rap: So many of us are blinded Thinking that life is timeless Then one day we're reminded that dreams can break before we realize them A mother stands by her child and Dedicates a whole life to finding A better way Pushing on for better days Feeling much pain, working hard all day just grindin' But the child is the one that sees it Tastin' the air when he breathes it And even though he might agree with it, He finds peace with the change of the seasons They say the strong survive, but with the weight of many seconds we perish with time While we watch it all pass us by what we truly seek is out of sight See, we chase till we lose it all Get knocked like a door to door Then we hit the breaks trying to break our fall While trying to make it to the top you can lose it all Understand what holds you up We're born into this world and we're told it's tough Most age every year without growing up See, we ain't wise till we're old enough By then it's too late Our pain's too great When a path is straight You can lose your way And you can lose your faith Man, it's a waste It's up to you now to choose your way So take a look around you Realize what it is that surrounds you And open your mind, you're allowed to It's the earth that you walk on that grounds you.

Syne-Midas [Official Animated Music Video] Released in honor of Earth Day

From the beginning of our existence, she has been there for us, providing for us sustenance and shelter, energy and life. We take from her, but we don’t give back. We see the signs that she is growing tired, that she cannot keep on giving us so much for much longer, but we do not change. Throughout history, civilizations have fallen because of greed, but we do not learn. We are trapped in a cycle of greed and complacency, and, if we are not careful, we may end up destroying our home, and we may not get another chance to rebuild it. With my song, “Midas”, I wanted to create a new mythology, based around the classic story of Midas, that hints at the notion that the curse of the golden touch is a cycle that has happened before and will happen again. The Midas character in the video is not a king to begin with but a forest hermit who has a strong connection to nature and loves spending time with the animals in the forest but who eventually falls victim to greed’s grasp and consequently destroys everything he loves. Just like the traditional Midas story, the song is centered around the theme of humanity’s greed, but it brings nature and Mother Earth to the forefront. I wanted to express my deep sadness for the situation and to show that drastic change is needed urgently, from all of us, working together as one. For the music, I recorded everything in my own room, using my home-studio setup to record my vocals and a few real instruments, and using my piano keyboard to play all of the different virtual instruments. I also created the characters and concept artwork. I drew the characters, scenery, and props by hand, and then created some vector illustrations using Affinity Designer. I wrote the storyline and sketched a rough storyboard, and all of this served as the reference material used by the animation studio to create the final animated video. The animation studio All4Band (which, interestingly enough, specializes in heavy metal music videos) did a masterful job of bringing my vision to life with their animation and graphic work. And Sean Carey and Kathy Naunton helped bring the song to another level of quality and crispness through their song mixing and mastering work, respectively. I think more of our art and music should be dedicated to important causes and positive messages. The art and music that we create and consume reflect the values and priorities that we hold as a society, and, as artists, we have the ability and responsibility to help shape those values and to influence the cultural landscape. "With a cinematic soundscape that seems to originate from another place and time, “Midas” takes the traditional story of Midas, with a slightly tweaked mythology, context, and setting, and brings nature and Mother Earth to the forefront, warning of the tragic impact that humanity’s greed could have on our world, our environment, the Earth, and everything we care about." Lyrics: Do you really Need more? Do you really Need your war? When the world turns dry And mother earth grows cold, Will you breathe your money, Or will you drink your gold? And do you know What they feel? So they’re different, But their pain is real. So helpless, While we take their homes, They suffer While we sit on thrones. So let it go, Don’t need your gold, But Mother Earth, We need her. Do you really Need more? Do you know What you're wishing for? When the world turns dry And mother Earth grows cold, Will you breathe your money, Or will you drink your gold? And do you know What they feel? We share the same sky And the same fears. When they've left our side And we walk alone, Will you still be smiling On your throne? So let it go, Don’t need your gold, But Mother Earth, We need her.

The poetic and other-worldly sounds and lyrics of “Siddhartha” tell about this universal struggle, as told through the story of Siddhartha Gautama, the man who would eventually become known as the Buddha." Lyrics: Siddhartha (Running Water) by Syne There was a man once locked away Walls so high Kept him away from all the pain The bad, the broken He hid behind a mind unopened Then one day he ran away Searching for an answer To this world of change And fleeting moments Running 'round, eyes wide open Running 'round, running 'round searching so far Trying to find something to hold on to But we’re running water Running 'round, running 'round searching so far Trying to find something to hold on to But we’re running water We’re running water He ate the bark from Bodhi trees Starved himself Until he fell down on his knees Broken, beaten Now living in a world of weakness ‘Til he fell upon a dream And he saw The only way to free himself From his demons Was to change with the seasons Cause we run around, run around Searching so far Trying to find something to hold on to But we’re running water Running 'round, running 'round Searching so far Trying to find something to hold on to But we’re running water We’re running water
